About Easton, Maryland

Easton Maryland

Easton was officially formed in the 18th century with the construction of the courthouse in what is now downtown Easton. The spot was chosen because it was near Pitt’s Bridge, which crossed the headwaters of the Tred Avon. This was a more convenient location for the county than the location of the courthouse at the time, which was near the headwaters of Skipton Creek.

In the 19th century, the town had a population of just 1,500. Today, it has grown to 16,500 and Easton has become an arts and cultural center. The town is also home to the Easton Ice Hawks, who play in the Chesapeake Beltway Hockey League. They play their home games at Talbot County Community Center.
