The location is close to metropolitan shopping, dining, and employment areas. With its expansive 230-acre lake, Lake Lingonore offers a variety of homes within a community of villages. The homes surround four lakes, with Lake Lingonore as the centerpiece. Lake Lingonore is Maryland’s largest privately owned lake.

The area’s homes for sale encompass 15 villages showcasing stylish townhomes, sprawling estates, and gorgeous single-family dwellings ranging from 2,200 to over 5,700 square feet. Many homes for sale in Lake Lingonore, Maryland, offer private docks and swimming pools.

The lifestyle here says it all and residents don’t seem to suffer from boredom! There are plenty of activities with easy access to beaches, swimming pools, tennis courts, and playgrounds. Getting the kids outside is rarely a problem. Every time I have sold a home in Lake Lingonore, people share how they love the variety of activities. There is a sense of community, evident through the number of movie nights, cookouts, and block parties.

Furthermore, staying informed is easy. Yes, you will run into neighbors often and learn what’s happening around the community, but folks stay informed through the community newspaper, Lake Talk. Plus, you can learn about the community’s history through a book titled The Man, The Vision, & The History of Lake Lingonore. Each book costs $10, and the proceeds go to the Lake Lingonore Scholarship Fund.

One of the top questions I’m asked when showing homes in the area is, “Can anyone swim in Lake Lingonore?” While the community owns the land, the water is public, so anyone can swim in the lake; consequently, overcrowding has never been a problem. One thing to keep in mind is the association rules state no gas-powered boats, but that still leaves plenty of options with electric-powered boats and watercraft.

Best Restaurants in Lake Lingonore, Maryland

One of the best things about living in Lake Lingonore, Maryland, is the proximity to incredible restaurants like The Showroom. The story behind this local hangout is that it once was a car dealership showroom. Chef Bryan Voltaggio loved the look and turned it into a restaurant. As with most showrooms, walls of windows and bright open spaces were perfect for creating a unique dining experience featuring a long counter fronting an open kitchen. I love eating at The Showroom because it has some of the best American dishes, like signature fried chicken, meatloaf, buttermilk biscuits, waffles, and good old duck-fat fried potatoes.

Chef Bryan Voltaggio’s other creation is Thacher & Rye. The restaurant is famous for its mid-Atlantic dishes prepared with locally grown ingredients. Chef Bryan is leaving a mark on Frederick’s dining scene. In fact, Thacher & Rye has been featured in many publications, including The Washington Post. Chef Bryan has many awards, including being a three-time finalist on Top Chef, named Chef of the Year by the Restaurant Association of Maryland, and a James Beard Award finalist.

Another great restaurant near Lake Lingonore is The Vintage Restaurant in New Market. The atmosphere is cozy and somewhat upscale, and the food is fantastic, offering everything from pot pies to juicy steaks.
